REDUCE, RECYCLE, REUSE

At Mussol, we are clear that the most important thing today is to have responsible and sustainable consumption with the environment and society. For this reason, every day we seek how we can reduce the impact of our activity with the aim of decreasing our footprint and generating a positive externality.

We work with returnable packaging with our suppliers. 70% of the beverages in our establishments are in returnable containers.

We have reduced waste generation by 5% compared to 2022.

BIOSITY x MUSSOL

Biosity is a startup officially founded in 2020, focused on household, industrial, and Horeca recycling, which merges technology with social value and ecological awareness.

Its objective is to give a new life to waste generated by industries and households.

USED VEGETABLE OIL

Oil is one of the most dangerous contaminants since 1 liter of oil pollutes 1 liter of water. Biocity is responsible for collecting, storing, and managing the used vegetable oil from our restaurants, which is later used as raw material for the manufacture of bioplastics.

COFFEE GROUNDS

It is also chosen to collaborate in the collection of coffee grounds. During 2023, 3,500 kg of this material have been collected. This is used for an innovative project to obtain eco-plastic, with properties similar to those of polypropylene.

ENERGY EFFICIENCY

At Mussol, we see the need to reduce the daily energy consumption of our restaurants, achieving the same result while saving energy and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

We have replaced the lights in the restaurants with low-consumption LED lights.

We have installed motion detectors.

We have established a schedule for the use of machinery.

We are in the process of installing more efficient machinery (AA).

WATER EFFICIENCY

Water is currently a highly prized resource, and unfortunately, every day there is less drinking water in the reserves of Catalonia, leading to extreme drought conditions in certain parts of the region.

We have replaced current faucets with automatic shut-off or presence sensor faucets.

We have installed motion detectors.

We have installed aerators on taps to reduce flow.

We have established regular monitoring of taps to prevent drips and possible leaks, etc.

We have established a schedule for the use of machinery.

We have installed consumption reduction devices in cisterns.

In the planters, we try to have native plants that require less water consumption.

We are aware that our main economic activity is based on creating products with a very short life span, as they are consumed almost immediately, which has an impact on our ecosystem, therefore we have a high carbon footprint.

For this reason, we have implemented measures, systems, and protocols that manage the life cycle, service, and organization of our products more efficiently.
